Already after the first two rounds, it would turn out to be an even battle between team Edin from Sweden and Scotland in the EC final.
2-0 to Scotland and then 2-0 to Sweden.
It then continued with Sweden and Scotland taking turns avoiding points or taking a point.
In the penultimate round, skipper Bruce Mouat accounted for a miss which meant they were pressed for a point.
– Oh, what is happening, says commentator Niklas Nord in SVT.
5-4 lead to Scotland heading into the final round, but Sweden would have the last stone.
Mouat: “I’m overjoyed”
But it didn’t go according to plan for Sweden and Scotland had two stones in the nest before Sweden’s last stone, while Sweden only had one. Niklas Edin’s last rock was a real shocker and he made sure it was a tiebreaker.
But there it was Scotland all the way and they took the EC gold on home soil, their third straight EC gold.
– I am overjoyed to be EC champion again. This medal is extra special because it is in Scotland, says Mouat.
Edin:
– I’m happy that we reached the final, it feels like we’ve had some problems throughout the tournament.
