The match ended 2–0 to HV71 and was the team’s first SHL point this season after four straight losses.
Hugo Pettersson started the scoring in the first period when Åke Stakkestad did a good job in his fore-check and intercepted a loose puck that the 19-year-old took advantage of and put in the net.
– It’s a boy’s dream. I’ve been on HV all my life. I was close to pulling on the A-team shirt last season and to score my first goal in front of the heel is unreal, he told TV4 during the break.
“Indescribable”
Herman Träff’s goal came in the middle period after passes from Tommi Tikka and Radan Lenc.
Träff – who was called back from his loan to Nybro earlier on Tuesday – talked about the feeling of scoring the first goal, in TV4 Play.
– It felt like the whole empire stood still. It is indescribable, he said.
Modo pressed in the third but HV managed to hold off and can now breathe a little after the heavy start to the season with meager results to say the least and the longest injury list of the series.
Next they face Örebro on Thursday.
Modo meets Frölunda.
