Sci Fi series on Amazon shows what happens next for Paul

Have you just been to the cinema for Dune: Part Two and are wondering how things actually continue in the multi-part sci-fi saga by Frank Herbert? Then we have a tip for you on how you can cheat on Dune 3, even without reading through the novel.

After the 80s cinema flop Dune, the American Sci Fi Channel set out to adapt the material for television. It started in 2000 with the three-part miniseries Dune – The Desert Planet, which roughly corresponds to the original novel. Only three years later it continued with Children of Dune, which also contained the follow-up novel in three episodes Dune: Messiah and takes up parts of the fourth novel.

The Children of Dune miniseries does 12 years after the events of the original story further. Paul Atreides (Alec Newman) still rules the desert planet Arrakis, where the drug Spice, which is important for space travel, is grown. But his reign is threatened by a brewing conspiracy. The mystical women of the Bene Gesserit, the Spacemen’s Guild, the devout Tleilaxu and even some Fremen want to overthrow Paul from the throne.

After another jump in time, the twins Leto II (James McAvoy) and Ganima (Jessica Brooks), who gave birth to Paul’s concubine Chani (Barbora Kodetová), are adults. They also become the targets of a plot against the ruling Atreides family, which presumably comes from the inner circle.

Shouldn’t we trust the returned Lady Jessica (Alice Krige) as a member of the Bene Gesserit? Does the greater danger come from Aunt Alia (Daniela Amavia), who is influenced by the consciousness of Baron Harkonnen (Ian McNeice)? Or would one have to keep an eye on Princess Wensicia (Susan Sarandon), the daughter of the fallen Emperor, as the representative of House Corrino?

Of course, John Harrison’s Dune series is not quite as complex as the convoluted novel. And some of the most notorious developments do not appear in it either. For example, Paul’s son does not, as described in the book Children of Dune, become a sandworm hybrid who rules the desert planet as a god-ruler for thousands of years. And also You should be able to excuse the 20 year old series CGIto enjoy the series.

What’s next in the Dune universe?

Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve wants to complete his current Dune trilogy if Warner and Legendary let him. However, the next part is not expected before 2027, even if there is an immediate green light for the sequel.

If you want a fresh dose of Dune sooner, you should keep an eye on the upcoming sci-fi series. The prequel series Dune: The Prophecy is finally scheduled to appear on the HBO streaming service Max later this year. This revolves around the order of the Bene Gesserit and is based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune written by son Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
