Sci fi series Black Mirror irritates fans with radical change but

In the past, Black Mirror was mostly a science fiction series that used technological innovations to take us into the dark human abysses. However, in the new sixth season of Netflix’ anthology series, they have only 2 of the 5 episodes have a sci-fi theme. Instead, true crime, fantasy and horror creeps in in episodes 2, 4 and 5. But how did this big change come about? And how is that received?

Season 6 should deliberately turn Black Mirror upside down on Netflix

The eponymous “black mirror” of the series Black Mirror takes on the own black reflection on a device such as a computer screen Relation. But the reflection can be read in two ways: with a focus on the technical device or with an emphasis on the gloomy reflected people in it. In an interview with Gamesradar, Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker revealed that he wanted to continue developing his series, so he broke new ground in Season 6:

There was a risk that people [Black Mirror] as a ‘technology is evil’ series – I found that a bit frustrating. Because the show isn’t saying technology is bad, it’s saying people are f***ed up.

Black Mirror continues to be media commentary and satire. But this self-reflection of mankind can also be reflected without sci-fi through a true-crime documentary or the lens of a paparazzi.“It was definitely one conscious decision to turn the series around a bitBrooker openly admits.

Black Mirror: Demon 79 brings series innovation

Explaining to GQ, the Black Mirror father took a radical turn, taking his stories and their tone in a new direction in Season 6 with the intention not always just with variations of the same to repeat:

I approached this season thinking, ‘Whatever my Black Mirror Assumptions are, I will them throw out of the window and do something else.

This resulted in genre deviations in Black Mirror season 6, but also in the acclaimed episode 1, which was even waved through by Netflix as a well-done self-parody.

I’ve binged Black Mirror season 6 and I have to say: just cancel it altogether. I have Waited 4 years for mediocre, predictable trash. More supernatural than sci-fi, and the writers have completely abandoned subversive themes and tech criticism. end it

It always makes me laugh when Black Mirror tries to tap into the supernatural genre. You’re not, please stick to dystopia and sci-fi folks. Why do you tell stories about werewolves?

Black Mirror Season 6: Funny, dark, tragic, broken, scary and thought provoking – with a dose of horror, sci-fi and the supernatural. This time the focus is on the evil of human nature, not the machines. Not the best Black Mirror season, but it was worth the wait.
