I Am Legend 2 is one of those sequels that has been around for years. Hollywood’s rumor mill haunts. For a long time, however, it was unclear whether we would ever see the film. In the meantime, however, lead actor Will Smith and his team are actively working on the second foray into the post-apocalypse. Now there are further story details.
I Am Legend 2 with Will Smith: New story details reveal how the sequel follows the alternate ending
At the Comic-Con in San Diego, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, who had already written the first part of the sci-fi series, was a guest. He is currently working on the History of the sequelin which Creed star Michael B. Jordan will also appear in a major role alongside Smith. But what exactly happens next in I Am Legend?
Collider quotes Goldsman as saying:
We are making a continuation of the alternative version. The one we talked about earlier, in which Will [Smiths Figur] lives and things have not been going so well for humanity.
This was already known: I Am Legend 2 follows the alternate ending of the first part. No wonder, because in the original Robert Neville, played by Smith, does not survive. When the project was first announced, it was already clear that the creative people behind it would choose this path.

Goldsman also reveals:
[I Am Legend 2] tells what New York has changed in the 30 years [seit Teil 1] You always imagine these post-apocalyptic scenarios, but when you research what is actually happening to cities, it is exactly the opposite. The world is coming back and the way it’s coming back is spectacular. This is a really exciting playground for all of us because it’s not your father’s I Am Legend.
It sounds like we will no longer see Smith as a lone survivor wandering through New York’s deserted streets. Instead, Goldsman presents the Return of civilization The big question now is what role Robert Neville will play in this new world. Will he be a part of it or will he oppose it?

Even though it sounds like the story of I Am Legend 2 seems to be over, we are still far from a cinema releaseWarner Bros. has not yet given a date for the sci-fi sequel. If filming begins in the next twelve months, we can imagine the film hitting the big screen in 2027.
