Sci fi hit with unbelievable visual power that failed in the

With Mad Max: Fury Road, George Miller has created one of the most bombastic, incredible action films of the last 15 years. This year, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the sequel that the director has been working on for years, was released in cinemas. Unfortunately, the sci-fi blockbuster with Anya Taylor-Joy as a younger version of Charlize Theron’s star role was a financial flop.

With a streaming subscription to Sky’s WOW you can now catch up on Furiosa at home. Even if Furiosa isn’t Fury Road 2, you should definitely still give the film a chance.

Furiosa is different than Fury Road, but no less spectacular

As a prequel to Fury Road, Furiosa is set up as an epic that expands the main character’s childhood and youth over decades. At the beginning, a young Furiosa is taken under the wing of the crazy biker gang leader Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) after her mother is killed by the gang. Later she is with the warlord Immortan Joe, known from Fury Road, under whom she wants to take revenge on Dementus.

Furiosa foregoes the overwhelming non-stop action of its predecessor. Scenes of it still exist and it’s still bombastic, but the prequel comes across as an idiosyncratic epic. With its generous running time of just under 2.5 hours, Furiosa is a film told in a radically different way plays with tempo and rhythm and presents a picturesque, repulsive picture of this post-apocalyptic world.

In addition to Anya Taylor-Joy, Thor star Chris Hemsworth also shines in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga with a crazy performance that turns his demented character into an instant cult figure. But above all else, the sci-fi action blockbuster is one unparalleled audio-visual rush from one of the best iconoclasts, that modern cinema still has to offer.

Will there be Mad Max 6 after Furiosa?

After the weak box office result of Furiosa Things aren’t looking good for a sequel. Even though George Miller has spoken about concrete plans for a sixth Mad Max film, the studio Warner Bros. is likely to distance itself from the franchise for the time being. In any case, another part from the sci-fi action universe has not been officially announced yet.
