Sci Fi Genius Hails DiCaprios Gruesome Murder Epic An Amazing Masterpiece

Killers of the Flower Moon, the new film by Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, celebrated its world premiere a few days ago at the Cannes Film Festival. For the first time, the public was able to take a look at the 206-minute crime epic about a real-life series of murders from the 1920s. Among them were not only the press but also some filmmakers. One of them: the Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón, who was celebrated with works such as the science fiction film Children of Men and most recently the autobiographical drama Roma.

On the sidelines of the Women in Motion Dinner in Cannes, Cuarón was asked about his favorite films from the festival so far and immediately named them Killers of the Flower Moon. The Oscar winner at that.

An amazing masterpiece!

Of course, it didn’t stop with these few words. When asked, he explained his love of film as follows:

Oh my god, this is filmmaking at its most amazing, pure form. He is quite fearless about his decisions and choices. He also allows himself to operate without a safety net. Just great!

If you want to know more about the qualities of the new Scorsese film and the cast around DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Glastone, you can read my first impression of Killers of the Flower Moon.

That’s what the epic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro is about

Killers of the Flower Moon kidnapped to Oklahoma almost a hundred years ago. This is where the Osage live, a Native American people who have become extremely wealthy through oil. Mollie Burkhart (Lily Gladstone) is one of them. Together with her white husband Ernest (Leonardo DiCaprio), nephew of the influential William Hale (Robert De Niro), she leads a well-ordered life. But more and more of Mollie’s relatives die under mysterious circumstances. A suspicion arises: Is it a white conspiracy?who want to get their wealth from the murders of the Osage? Could Mollie be the next victim?

The story was researched by non-fiction author David Grann, who explains the background to the series of murders with hundreds of deaths in his book The Crime: The Osage Murders and the FBI wrote down.

Killers of the Flower Moon will be released in German cinemas on October 19th and will then appear exclusively on Apple TV+.
