Uganda has closed schools throughout the country to prevent the spread of Ebola, two weeks before the end of the term. The closure was announced at the beginning of the month, after eight children died of the disease.
The closure of schools comes despite the number of new cases having since fallen, according to the Department of Health.
– We urge the population to continue to be vigilant and cooperate with the health care teams if we are to win this fight, and there are signs that Uganda is on its way to winning, says Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng.
The outbreak has claimed 55 lives, according to the authorities.
