The Minister of National Education Elisabeth Borne announces the establishment of “unexpected excavations of bags” of students at the entrance to schools to combat violence in school.

The excavations “do not enter the prerogatives of education personnel”

The latter wishes to work in collaboration “with the prefect, the prosecutor, the representative of national education”, to “be able to regularly organize bag excavations at the entrance to establishments” in the coming months. Precisely, the establishments in which the excavations will be organized will be determined in connection with the prosecutors, the prefects and the heads of establishments concerned.

Please note, it is important to remember that this type of operation – in this case excavations on students – cannot be carried out by the educational team. A detail that has been recalled by the Minister of National Education, still at the microphone of BFMTV/RMC. The excavations will be carried out by the police because they “do not enter the prerogatives of education personnel”. On this file, she also indicates, working in collaboration with Minister the Interior, Bruno Retailleau.

Finally, Elisabeth Borne did not fail to recall her wish to “modify the education code”, so that each student with a stabbing weapon in a school establishment “systematically passes before a disciplinary council”. Today, such a decision remains at “the assessment of the establishment”, she abounds. From now on, “it will be systematic, such as reporting to the prosecutor,” she says.
