School food expert on meatballs every day at school: “Short-term solution”

According to the Education Act, everyone has the right to free and nutritious meals during school. Students at Kilbergsskolan have access to it. Every day, two new dishes and a salad table are served.

The concern with offering a permanent dish in addition to this is that students who would otherwise try different dishes, eat one-sidedly. That’s what Emelie Eriksson at the Swedish Food Agency thinks.

– They also miss the chance to practice trying different dishes.

Instead of having a permanent right for everyone, she recommends adapted support for those who do not eat, and that schools invest in a safe and pleasant meal environment during the school lunch.

– You need to investigate what is needed for each individual who does not eat. To provide support and to practice being in a meal situation.
