School financial education enters the teaching of civic education

(Finance) – Article 21 of the Competitiveness bill of the capitals inserts financial education is also part of the teaching of civic education, providing for specific amendments to the law of 20 August 2019, n. 92, concerning the school teaching of civic education.

In particular: letter a) provides that the teaching of civic education is also aimed at promoting the full and conscious participation of citizens in the economic life of the community; letter b) includes financial education, with particular reference to personal finance, savings and investment, within the knowledge that civic education contributes to enriching; letter c) provides that the guidelines are adopted by the Ministry of Education in agreement with the Bank of Italy and Consob and having heard the most representative associations of the sector; letter d) specifically inserts financial education within the topics covered by specific learning objectives identified by the guidelines for the teaching of civic education; letter e) provides that financial education is promoted as part of the transversal teaching of civic education.

Among other things, the legislation also provides the establishment of the Committee for the planning and coordination of financial education activitieswith the task of promoting and planning financial awareness and education initiatives, and the approval of a three-year business plan in line with the “National strategy for financial, insurance and social security education”.
