This Wednesday, October 28, Emmanuel Macron announced the need for France to reconfine itself. Containment that varies slightly from the previous one since schools will remain open. Update on this protocol which presents itself as “reinforced”.

Authorization to take children to school

In this context of a slightly widened confinement, where the children continue to follow their schooling in person, the parents will be able to transport their children to school, they must however have in their possession the certificate of displacement of this second confinement. A permanent travel certificate can be provided by the school.

The mask from 6 years old

From the start of the new school year on November 2, 2020, nurseries, schools, colleges, high schools and the extracurricular sector will be open, despite the implementation of a reconfinement. On this occasion, the health protocol will be adapted and strengthened “to ensure the protection of all” Jean Castex explained this morning to the national assembly.
It is in accordance with the opinion of the High Council for Public Health (HCSP) that “the wearing of the mask will be extended to primary school children from the age of 6”Said the Prime Minister.

It is up to parents to provide the mask, in the event of forgetting or economic difficulties, masks will be distributed in schools.

In higher education, all lectures and tutorials will be done remotely, “only practical work, carried out under specific conditions, can be maintained in the establishments”Added Jean Castex.

    The non-compulsory mask during recess

Matignon said on June 16 that masks are no longer mandatory during recess. Children will be able to cool off with their faces open to enjoy their free time. The Minister of National Education then announced at the microphone of France Inter, Thursday morning: “This is a good thing”, adding that “many children and adolescents found it painful to have to wear the mask during recess time”.

    Reinforced ventilation

A little earlier in the morning, on the set of France 2, Jean-Michel Blanquer indicated that this maintenance of the opening of schools could be held thanks to a reduction in the mixing of students and “increased ventilation”. “There could be a change in schedules”He stressed. No allusion was made, however, to the half-groups demanded by the unions.

    Limitation of student mixing

Thursday evening, during the press conference held by the government, Jean-Michel Blanquer announced that the reinforced protocol would also play on the notion of “limiting the mixing of pupils”.

This is based on 4 points:
1 – The arrivals and departures of students from schools will be spread over time, as far as possible

2 – In middle and high schools, students will not change rooms. One room will be allocated per class.

3 – Recess will be organized by groups of students, if necessary break times can be done in the classroom.

4 – The pupils will have lunch in small groups, by levels and will be spaced one meter apart as far as possible.
