Mohammed bin Salman has been singled out by many, including the American intelligence service, as the person most responsible for the high-profile murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul in 2018.

Olaf Scholz will arrive in Saudi Arabia in the company of a delegation on Saturday, his spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit announces. They then travel on to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Hebestreit says that he “would not be surprised” if the energy issue came up. He assures that the Khashoggi murder will also be lifted.
