In April 2021, a police patrol in Gothenburg managed to sniff out a drug ring in a villa. Literally.
Now a man suspected of growing both cannabis and hallucinogenic mushrooms is charged.
The smell of cannabis had brought the police to the man’s house, writes Göteborgs-Posten.
As the basement windows were covered and there were both heating pipes, fan systems and ventilation equipment on the outside of the house, the police’s suspicions were strengthened.
A 55-year-old man was arrested and the villa was searched. Two cannabis plants were found in the house – one in a greenhouse with an irrigation system and fans. They also found a mushroom farm as well as dried mushrooms. After analysis, these were found to contain substances classified as narcotics.
The man says in questioning that he used both cannabis and mushrooms for medicinal purposes.
In the home, the police also found several weapons, some of which the man had a license for.
The man is charged with both drug offenses and weapons offences.
