The war between Russia and Ukraine, which started on February 24, continues. While the developments in the region were followed closely, a statement came from Russia that made the world uneasy. Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, ‘If we lose the war, we will use nuclear weapons’ said.
‘CAN IGNITE THE NUCLEAR WAR’
Russia, which increased its bombardment and hit civilians in Ukraine, was locked in victory in the war. The Moscow administration once again intimidated the world with the threat of nuclear weapons. Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, underlined that Russia’s loss in Ukraine would have serious consequences. Medvedev stated that a nuclear power defeated in war can ignite the fuse of nuclear war. Afterwards, he openly threatened the world by saying ‘We can use nuclear weapons if we are defeated’.
‘WORLD’S END’
Medmedev was not the only one threatening the world from Russia. The patriarch at the head of the Russian Orthodox Church said, “The desire to destroy Russia will also be the end of the world.”
‘THE TENSION RISE FURTHER’
A new statement from the Kremlin gave a message of both reconciliation and tension. Reiterating the terms of the negotiations, Peskov said, “The sooner Ukraine accepts our demands, the sooner the conflict will end.” Peskov warned that tensions would rise further if the West gave Ukraine a weapon capable of hitting Russia.
