It has been reported that 2,816 people lost their lives in the summer period, which had the second highest temperature in history since 1900 in France.

According to the information shared by the French Public Health, 10,420 people died this year in connection with the temperatures and the Kovid-19 outbreak.

RECORD SINCE 1900

Of these, 2,816 died directly due to 3 heat waves experienced between 14-22 June, 9-27 July and 29 July-14 August in summer. The extreme heat seen during the said periods was also recorded as the “highest temperature” experienced in the country since 1900.

On the other hand, 2,272 of the 2,816 deaths due to the scorching heat were people aged 75 and over.

In 2003, 15 thousand people died in the country due to abnormal temperatures. (AA)
