A new study has been revealed about Covid-19, which has previously examined the damage to organs and most importantly the brain. According to the study, which took into account the health records of more than half of the population in Denmark, it was determined that people who had Covid-19 had a much higher risk of developing Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and ischemic stroke.

- The study, which was presented at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) Congress, included 43,375 people with COVID -19 and 876,356 people without the disease. Researchers reported that people who test positive increase the risk of ischemic stroke by 2 to 3 times, especially in younger people. They also observed significant increases in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diagnosis rates about a year after Covid-19 infection.
IT WAS KNOWN TO BE RELATED TO NEUROLOGICAL DISEASES
D., a member of the Neurology Department at Rigshospitalet hospital in Copenhagen, who is the lead author of the study. Pardis Zarifkar said that although previous studies have found an association with neurological syndromes, it is not known whether Covid-19 also affects it. However, according to previous research, the risk of developing post-coronavirus neurological disease was not higher than for people infected with post-coronavirus influenza or bacterial pneumonia.
