Scarlett Johansson reveals space masterpiece that plunged her into deep
Scarlett Johansson is one of the biggest Hollywood stars of our time. But there were times when she was plagued by great self-doubt. At least that’s how she describes the situation after a bizarre audition for the space drama Gravity

was rejected and slipped into an existential crisis.

Scarlett Johansson sat in an astronaut suit on a chair and was supposed to float

Gravity tells the story of two astronauts (Sandra Bullock and George Clooney) who want to return home after their shuttle was destroyed in Earth orbit. As Johansson tells Entertainment Tonight, she already wore an astronaut outfit for the audition and had to pretend to be floating in space. In the end, director Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men) decided against them.

The cancellation caused her to go into “crisis mode,” according to Johansson (via Variety).

That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I felt extremely frustrated and hopeless. Think [sonstigen] Offers were disappointing. I was offered every Marilyn Monroe script out there. I thought, “Is this my creative end yet?”

In the end, the rejection was resolved with satisfaction. Bullock landed the role and for many, delivered what was considered to be the best performance of her career. Johansson focused on her MCU career and was most notable with Avengers 3: Infinity War and Avengers 4: Endgame one of the biggest Marvel stars ever.
