As Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, she has already said goodbye to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). After the character’s death in Endgame, Scarlett Johansson slipped into the role of the superhero one last time for the prequel Black Widow. But that doesn’t mean the Avengers star will never have anything to do with the MCU again.
It has been known for some time that Scarlett Johansson will no longer work as an actress but as a producer on a future MCU project. Now there is new information about what form this could take.
Scarlett Johansson is probably producing a Marvel series
As Nexus Point News reports, this could be Scarlett Johansson’s secret Marvel project a series produced for Disney+ act. The information goes back to an entry on the social network LinkedIn.
Disney
Scarlett Johansson in Black Widow
On her profile, Courtney Baker, a producer in production and development at Marvel Studios, briefly listed the project “Untitled Scarlett Johansson series for Disney+” in the description of her work at Marvel. The entry has now been adjusted again and the project is only described as “Untitled Series for Disney+”. It is not known whether this is a mistake or a hasty announcement.
The Marvel project produced by Scarlett Johansson has not yet been officially presented. In interviews, she has so far remained silent about its contents. Just last year, Johansson gave an update that she was still involved in the secret project with Kevin Feige, but that it was unable to move forward for a long time due to the script strikes.
Will Scarlett Johansson return as Black Widow?
Many Marvel fans certainly want Natasha Romanoff to return. Scarlett Johansson herself has clearly rejected this wish in the past. She already joked that she would only return as a vampire or zombie. However, we shouldn’t completely write off another Black Widow appearance.
The MCU is currently in the middle of the Multiverse Saga, which has already seen a number of (dead) Marvel characters alternate versions from the multiverse brought back. According to rumors, there have already been discussions at Marvel about a new Avengers film, for which both Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man could return.
As the grand finale to the Multiverse Saga, Avengers 6: Secret Wars could lend itself to such a huge Marvel surprise. We will probably only find out in a few years whether there will actually be a return. According to current information, Secret Wars is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2027.
