At the end of 2019, the BBC program Newsnight broadcast an interview with Prince Andrew. The interview made the prince appear in such a bad mood that he had to leave his official duties.
Among other things, Andrew was confronted with information that 20 years ago he allegedly forced sex from a then 17-year-old girl. The journalist Emily Maitlis says during the interview that the woman described the evening in question in detail – that she and the prince would have danced and that he then sweated profusely.
The Prince’s defense was that he had a strange condition which meant he was not sweating on the occasion after receiving an adrenaline overdose from being shot at during the Falklands War.
The interview also dealt with Andrew’s friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, convicted of molesting minors, who killed himself in his prison cell where he was awaiting trial for molesting dozens of underage girls between 2002 and 2005.
