Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz called for Turkey to be removed from NATO. Katz cited President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s words as justification.
According to a statement from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Yisrael Katz claimed that President Erdoğan “invaded Israel and made dangerous statements.”
Katz said he therefore called on “diplomats to urgently contact all NATO members to condemn Turkey and remove it from the regional alliance.”
WHAT HAPPENED?
President Erdoğan had said the following regarding Israel’s attacks on Palestine: “Just as we entered Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we will do the same to them. There is nothing not to do. We should be the only ones who are strong, so what can we do? Let’s take these steps.”
Following this statement, Israeli Foreign Minister Katz posted a photo of President Erdoğan and Iraq’s deposed leader Saddam Hussein side by side on his social media account, claiming that he would end up like Saddam Hussein.
There were harsh reactions from Turkey to this post of the Israeli minister.
