An “action facilitated by digitization”, underlines franceinfo, because “from now on, a note can be modified in a few clicks for an entire batch of copies.” According to an article by France Inter, these adjustments concern specialty disciplines in general (maths, English, history, etc.). One of the hypotheses considered by the teachers affected, again according to France Inter, is that, without this increase in additional marks, the results of the baccalaureate in certain subjects would have been collectively catastrophic, with a record number of repeaters at the end of the day and no place for them.

Each year, a harmonization of the marks takes place to limit the differences in marks between the batches of copies of the different correctors. However, Éric Nicollet, representative of the SUI-FSU, the inspectors’ union, told the press, this practice “must be done at the time of correction by the correctors themselves, under the supervision of the inspectors”. But “Today”, he adds, “we have a computer system which allows us, after the correctors have stopped the grades, to modify them again. From our point of view, this is a breach of trust between our inspectors and the teachers, the teachers correcting the copies. the fear that these practices could become widespread in the future.”

The SUI-FSU has publicly expressed its concern, which is rare for this union. The teachers’ unions are also alarmed in the media about this phenomenon of increased marks without the agreement of the correctors. The inspectors have already requested explanations from the Ministry of National Education. The ministry acknowledged that it had asked for an initial harmonization according to the subjects, depending on whether the candidates worked on their specialty test on day 1 or day 2: the tests had indeed been spread over two days with separate subjects, and therefore not quite equivalent. A second harmonization was also carried out according to the correctors, note France Interdepending on whether they rate more favorably or more severely.

The Snes-FSU, the majority union of secondary school teachers, denounces for its part “an unworthy DIY” and adds: “With a simple click, inspectors undo the long work of correction of teachers”. He would like “a single subject for the written specialty tests to avoid, in the same discipline, any difference in the exercises offered to students depending on the day of the test”.

The Snalc, another secondary union, is skeptical of the ministry’s explanations and writes in a press release: “These increases are generally not explained by the differences in difficulty between the subjects of day one and day two, since we We have many reliable testimonials from colleagues who have corrected different subjects and who have seen all of their notes raised in the same way”. The dates of the 2022 general and technological baccalaureate exams run between Wednesday May 11 and Friday July 1, 2022. The specialty tests are part of the final tests that complete the continuous assessment of the new baccalaureate. The grand oral is one of the new tests initiated by the reform of the baccalaureate in 2018. It is rated coefficient 10 in the general stream and coefficient 14 in the technological stream. The high school students worked on this test for the new baccalaureate for the first time during the 2021 session. The grade for the grand oral is based both on the candidate’s knowledge, transmitted during his presentation, and on his general expression. The grand oral is spread over 40 minutes, with a preparation time of twenty minutes to prepare the answer to his question, then a passage time of twenty minutes including: five minutes of presentation, then ten minutes of jury interview / candidate on the selected subject and finally five minutes of discussion around the candidate’s orientation project.

For the written exams of the general baccalaureate, the student works on a text commentary or on an essay. The test lasts 4 hours. It is scored out of 20 points. At the level of the technological baccalaureate, the duration and the notation are the same, but the tests differ in part (contraction of text, essay).

French oral counting for the general and technological baccalaureate consists of two parts, with a preparation time of half an hour beforehand. The first part of the test (12 minutes, scored out of 12 points) consists of preparing the text validated by the examiner, reading the text aloud, a linear explanation of a passage of about twenty lines and an answer to a grammar question about the text. The second part of the test (8 minutes, scored out of 8 points) aims to present the work chosen from among those studied in class.

The passage of the vocational baccalaureate exams started on Monday, May 23 in France, with the start of practical and written exams on computer support in mathematics, physics and chemistry. These lasted until Friday, June 3. Officially called “second group tests”, the remedial process is intended for all candidates whose average is between 8 and 9.99/20 at the end of the first session of the baccalaureate.
