At the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, there has been a crash just outside the stadium. Two golf carts carrying athletes collided. There were at least men’s 200m runners on board, such as Noah Lyles.
Noah Lyles, the reigning 200m world champion, previously won the World Championship gold in the 100m at the World Championships.
A Jamaican sprinter was also on board Andrew Hudsonwho held his eye after the collision.
– I knew immediately that something caught my eye when the crash happened. I looked down, the glass was on the bench and my backpack was on top. I got hit in the knee but that wasn’t the problem, the problem was the glass in my eye.
Hudson said he was being treated by a doctor to clean his eye. He was then given three minutes to decide whether he would run in the semi-finals. He decided to run.
Lyles didn’t seem to be bothered by the crash, as he won the heat with a time of 19.76. Hudson ran fifth in 20.38.
