The Somme MP attacked the forces of the New Popular Front, virulently reproaching them for their inability to agree on the name of Prime Minister.
Freed from any political allegiance, François Ruffin does not mince his words. While conversations have been bogged down for two weeks between socialists, rebels, environmentalists and communists to propose a name for Prime Minister, the deputy of the Somme lets loose his anger. In a video published this Sunday on X, he responds to a left-wing voter, who sent him by mail the remains of her torn voter card, affirming that she would “never vote again”.
“We’re coming out of the European elections, the Macronists lost, we still have Van der Leyen at the head of the commission. We’re coming out of the legislative elections, the Macronists lost and we still have Braun-Pivet in the chair,” notes François Ruffin. Before turning his attacks on his colleagues from the New Popular Front: “Now, it’s true that the left… what a failure, what a failure! It’s starting again! They were useless for two years, they were useless during the six months of the European campaign […] It’s been two weeks since we’ve been able to give a name for Matignon!”
“I even say to myself now: but they like to lose, what,” chokes the deputy of the Somme. “It’s the choice of defeat. They don’t want to win, they don’t want to govern,” he mocks.
“Stop the cinema!”
Yet, Ruffin says, “when you represent the people, you take everything you can take.” According to him, “there is a possibility, perhaps, of at least trying to take power. Maybe not all the power but bits of power. (…) But there, it’s sniffing around, it would have to be perfect, it would have to be harmonious, we’ll go there on such and such a condition… Stop! Stop the theater. You don’t want to go? Say you don’t want to go there!”
The Socialist Party has set Tuesday, July 23 as the deadline to propose a candidate from the New Popular Front for the post of Prime Minister. A deadline validated by Jean-Luc Mélenchon. It is between the Socialists and the Insoumis that discussions are blocked, to the great displeasure of their partners. A few days before François Ruffin, the environmentalist Marine Tondelier also expressed her annoyance at the inability of the left to agree, saying she was “disgusted” and “angry”.
