Manchester City took full points after a long time and returned to winning ways after five games without a win in the Premier League.
A coach who was in the eye of the storm because of weak games Pep Guardiola got a breather when Manchester City, who won the Premier League championship four times in a row, defeated Leicester 2–0 away from home.
The match was Guardiola’s 500th in charge of City. For a team accustomed to success, the victory was only the second in the last 14 matches, including all series. City had won only one of the nine previous Premier League matches.
– We needed this (victory), all of us. It wasn’t a perfect performance, but hopefully the wins will boost the team’s morale. The second half was tight, we didn’t have enough energy to last the whole 90 minutes without difficulties, Guardiola told Sky Sports.
Statistically, the match was even, as City won the scoring attempts 14–11. The top spots were marked in the match for Leicester 3–2.
A brass player Savinho scored an easy 1–0 goal for City halfway through the opening half. For 20-year-old winger Savinho, the goal was only the first in the 24 matches he played in a City shirt.
The goal scorer from Savinho’s brilliant cross Erling Haaland managed to score for him after a long time, heading the game into the net in the 74th minute.
– It’s always easier when you can score a goal. Today it was important to get a two-goal lead at the end of the match, Haaland admitted.
For the Norwegian goal monster, the league goal was the 14th of the season, but the first in the last five games and only the fourth after an effective August-September.
Haaland is second in the goal exchange, having completed 16 complete hits for Liverpool Mohamed Salah’s after.
With their win, City moved up a couple of places to fifth in the series. The difference to the leading club Liverpool, who played two matches less, is eleven points.
