Sävehof won after a lot of trouble: “It absolutely shouldn’t be like that”

When Kungälv equalized at 19-19 in an empty net, Sävehof’s coach Jepser Östlund received a yellow card for protest. However, the dominant man managed to pull himself together at the end and win the match.

– It was nice to get two points in a match that was very strange from our side. After a good start, we fall completely after a quarter. Then it was even until the final minutes and it certainly shouldn’t be like that from our side, says Thea Stankiewicz to the Handball League.

Kungälv looked to be outnumbered several times but constantly came back in the Partille Arena.

“A sour loss”

– We felt that we were close to taking them and it’s a sour loss, but it was a good gauge after a few games where we played worse, says Kungälv’s goalkeeper Agnes Åseskog, who jumped in and was named the team’s best player. Sävehof’s goalkeeper Annie Linder was named the home team’s best player.

It looked like it was going away when Sävehof went up 12-6 in the first half but Kungälv shrunk to 12-11 after five straight goals and Madeleine Lindgren was a free position with a shot on the crossbar from equalizing in the final seconds before the break. Sävehof led 13-12 at the break.

– We had many unprovoked sloppy errors and let go of the positions in certain situations, said Sävehof’s Nina Koppang during the break.
