Save the Children in Gaza: “Living in a horror movie”

The situation inside Gaza is described as a horror film and a nightmare where children are particularly affected, according to the organization Save the Children.

– Many children today have a severe malnutrition and they have seen their homes are destroyed, says Inger Ashing to SVT News when she is on the Gaza Strip:

– And the worst thing is that this nightmare is not over.

“The ceasefire must become permanent”

The ceasefire that currently prevails between Israel and Hamas is in the first phase and will initially last for six weeks. Now this week, negotiations were also started for the coming phase, phase two.

– We have a temporary ceasefire that must be permanent, says Inger Ashing.

Affected every child

All aspects of children’s lives in Gaza have been affected and every child has been affected by the war, according to Inger Ashing. But at the same time, she sees how the children are resilient and have already started playing, dancing and longing for school.

– I have been extremely pleasantly surprised by the enormous power that children possess. With the right support they can recover, so it is extremely important that we get the right support and that we get it quickly, says Inger Ashing.
