A man who was detained in Guantanamo Bay on suspicion of collusion with the terrorist movement al-Qaeda has been released to Saudi Arabia, the US military announces.
Ghassan al-Sharbi was arrested in Pakistan in March 2002. He was accused of having trained in explosives skills at a training camp set up by al-Qaeda.
In 2003, 600 people were imprisoned at Guantanamo. Now the military prison has a total of 31 prisoners, of which 17 are deemed to be transferable to other countries.
