Saudi Arabia and Syria are preparing to restart diplomatic relations.
Al-Ibhariyya Channel, based in Saudi Arabia, gave the news based on an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia.
The official said that in line with Saudi Arabia’s request to provide consular services between the two countries, talks are being held with officials at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Reuters previously reported that Syria and Saudi Arabia had agreed to reopen their embassies after more than a decade of interruption in diplomatic relations.
In the news, it was noted that the talks in question gained momentum after the agreement that envisaged the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Riyadh and Tehran agreed on the resumption of diplomatic relations within two months, through Chinese officials, in Beijing on March 10, after a 7-year hiatus. (AA)
