Saudi Arabia invests in license new cartoon b
We’ve known it for almost a year, Grendizer is going to make its return to cartoons, with the added bonus of Go Nagai at the helm of this new project, called Project G internally. Officially, and despite a first teaser released at the end of August 2022, we don’t know in what form Actarus’ robot will return (series, OAV or animated film?), but we know from a reliable source that it will be a new cartoon series. Moreover, the announcement should not take too long, since the Saudi company, Manga Productions, has announced that a series of announcements will be made from next month, in July 2023, probably once the blow shipment from Japan Expo completed. In any case, one thing is certain, Saudi Arabia is betting heavily on the Grendizer license (UBO Grendizer in VO), in collaboration with the company Dynamic Planning, the Japanese owner of the Grendizer rights. This partnership authorizes the exploitation of the “Goldorak” license and its characters through amusement parks and special events throughout the Middle East, the character being as popular there as in France (much less in Japan, his country of origin). Moreover, it is in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, that a 33.7 meter high statue of Grendizer was erected a few months ago and which is recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest metal sculpture of a fictional character in the world.

In an earlier press release, Manga Productions CEO Dr. Essam Bukhary said: “Manga Productions has had many successful co-production experiences with our Japanese partners. Therefore, their level of trust from them is at the highest with us and this enables us to achieve multiple successes through this joint collaboration. This partnership will enable Manga Productions to revolutionize the creative content industry. »

Mr. Ichinao Nagai, who serves as Executive Producer at Dynamic Planning, shared his thoughts regarding this collaboration which took place in 2022, through a statement in a previous press release, saying: “We are confident that our partnership with Manga Productions will solidify our beloved ‘Goldorak’ license, one of Mr. Go Nagai’s favorite creations. This will create various interactive entertainment experiences in the Middle East that will delight our audiences in this region. We are convinced that we will be able to increase the popularity of “Goldorak” thanks to this strategic partnership with Manga Productions by activating different initiatives. »

In parallel with this PROJECT G (which is none other than the new animated series), Manga Productions has launched a great competition to find new illustrator talents around the world, in order to create new enemy vehicle designs: “Saucer Beasts” (Golgoths and Anteraks in French). A competition that brought together more than 1,000 artists from all over the world and whose top 3 received a cash prize of $15,000.

But that’s not all, Manga Productions also signed a publishing and distribution agreement on March 9, 2023 with Microids to publish the game GOLDORAK: The Feast of Wolves in the Middle East and North Africa. Manga Productions will also work with Microids to localize the game for audiences in the Middle East and North Africa, and also allow Saudis the opportunity to be part of this localization.
