On Saturday, there was a lot of wind high in the atmosphere. In a shower, this wind is brought down, causing gusts of wind on the ground. If the cold air at the top of the shower cloud moves down very quickly with the rain, this can be a downdraft. According to the KNMI, this was the case on Saturday at Hollandse Rading and Meppel.
