Satellites lost after crash

Two of NASA’s satellites that were supposed to monitor tropical storms were destroyed during launch on Sunday, the US space agency announces.

The two satellites never reached the intended height since the Aster rocket that launched them was prematurely shut down.

Astra has a contract with Nasa for three launches, each with two small satellites on board. But the company has had problems. As recently as February, the company failed with a similar launch.
