Satellite imagery reveals the extensive devastation suffered by Mariupol in

Russia’s invasion of the city has caused massive damage to residential buildings, satellite images from the American company show.

During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many of the country’s cities have suffered widespread destruction. Mariupol, besieged by Russia, has suffered the most.

The space technology company Maxar, which is following Ukraine’s battles with its satellites, has released images of Mariupol before and after the war of aggression launched by Russia more than two weeks ago.

The pictures show residential buildings in western Mariupol, which have been completely destroyed in the war. The satellite image taken on Saturday, March 12, clearly shows the significant damage to the buildings. The pictures also show fires.

The humanitarian situation in Mariupol is said to be critical. According to Ukraine, no one was able to escape the city on Saturday because of Russian troops. Russia, for its part, has blamed Ukraine for the humanitarian catastrophe.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky according to Mariupol is the target of continuous Russian artillery fire around the clock. More than 1,500 people have died in the siege, according to the city mayor.

According to Doctors Without Borders, people in the city have died from a lack of medication. The city has also been without drinking water for more than a week. No humanitarian aid has been allowed into the city.

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshtshukin a total of about 13,000 people were evacuated from Ukrainian cities on Saturday. The number of people successfully evacuated was almost double that of Friday.

In all, more than 2.5 million people have fled Ukraine since Russia launched its war on the country.
