When SAS applied for bankruptcy protection in the US in July, it had a debt to state-owned Avinor of NOK 141 million. Just over a year ago, Avinor lost around SEK 150 million in credits paid to Norwegian, writes Aftenposten.
But unlike that time, SAS has now paid what it owed to Avinor, something that other Norwegian lenders can also count on.
The announcement comes after the airline received the green light on Saturday night for its loan of the equivalent of 7.1 billion kroner (700 million dollars) from the venture capital company Apollo Global Management. Half of the loan will be paid out shortly.
— This means that our suppliers in Norway are paid as normal. We do the right thing when we buy goods and services. And we will also reimburse the customers who were affected by the strike, says SAS Norway manager Kjetil Håbjørg.
