While checking her lottery ticket, Paula Horvatich heard a sound she’d never heard before.
It notified the 51-year-old Sarnia resident she’d won the second prize in a draw, which was worth nearly $200,000.
“I was shocked. It felt like such a chaotic moment with all the activity in the store,” Horvatich told Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. officials.
Horvatich, a retail worker, said she only plays the lottery occasionally and bought a ticket from the Capel Street Esso ReFresh for the June 29 out of the blue. The decision paid off with a check for $198,188.30.
“I feel happy. This is crazy,” she said as she collected her check. “I can’t wait to take this to the bank.”
Horvatich said she plans to invest the money and buy a car.
