Sarnia woman pleads guilty in 13K fentanyl meth trafficking case

A Sarnia woman who admitted that nearly $13,000 in fentanyl and crystal meth police found on her last fall was for trafficking may not learn her fate until next spring.

A police officer saw Amber-Lynn White, 27, cycling near Confederation and Vidal streets about 3 am Nov. 15, a Sarnia court heard Thursday. The officer knew who White was and learned she was supposed to be at home between 10 pm and 6 am after her release following an arrest on drug-trafficking allegations in August 2022.

She also was wanted by Chatham-Kent police on an outstanding warrant, the officer learned.

The officer arrested White, who initially gave a fake name, and took her to the nearby Blue Water Bridge to be searched by a female Canada Border Services Agency officer.

That officer found a satchel under a winter jacket and several layers of clothing. It held nearly 85 grams of crystal meth, almost 30 grams of red and blue fentanyl, and a hydromorphone pill worth almost $12,800. The officer also found $440 in cash and empty dime bags.

White, now 28, pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of possessing fentanyl and crystal meth for trafficking and one count of breaching a release order.

She appeared virtually from the Thunder Woman Healing Lodge in Toronto, a facility for Indigenous women where White has been for three months, and hopes to remain for nine more months to complete the one-year program.

As a result, she may not be sentenced until May 2024.

in the meantime, the judge ordered a Gladue report, a specialized pre-sentence report for Indigenous offenders, and a traditional pre-sentence report. The case will return in October for an update on the reports.

“I wish you well, Ms. White, in your recovery,” Justice Krista Lynn Leszczynski said.

White has another possession for the purpose of trafficking case that’s still before the courts. It will also be addressed in October after a judicial pre-trial. A third case she’s involved in is set for preliminary hearing next month.

None of the charges in the other two cases have been tested in court.
