“It’s so important, especially during the holidays, for women to feel special and welcome and supported,” said Rayson, who runs the chapter with her mom, Stephanie Lobsinger.

“So please, in any way you can, reach out, support, spread the word,” Rayson added. “Let’s make some more holiday magic this year for the women of Sarnia.”

Last year, more than 300 gift-wrapped shoeboxes containing cosmetics, candies, scarves, socks, shampoo, body wash and other items were assembled by the chapter for distribution by local agencies, she said. Handwritten motivational cards are also added.

Items and wrapped boxes are being accepted until Dec. 11 at Norton Hairstyling, Fuzion Hair Concepts, Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, MPP Bob Bailey’s office and the Shoebox shoe store.

“We try to deliver them to all the agencies so they can deliver them at their Christmas events,” Rayson said.

Agencies involved this year include the Haven, Inn of the Good Shepherd, Lambton Mental Wellness Centre, Ohana Landing, Rebound’s Hub, the Sarnia Brain Injury Association, Sexual Assault Survivors’ Center Sarnia-Lambton, and the local Women’s Interval Home.
