Sarnia police say two Toronto residents were arrested after an unmarked city police cruiser allegedly was rammed while officers were making a traffic stop Wednesday evening in connection with a drug investigation.
“Luckily, neither the police officers nor the occupants of the suspect vehicle were injured. However, the police vehicle sustained damage,” police said in a news release.
The traffic stop on Russell Street South came after members of the city police vice squad began investigating a group of individuals from the Greater Toronto Area earlier this spring, police said.
Occupants of the vehicle were arrested and it’s alleged a search turned up methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine with a street value estimated at about $58,000, plus about $550 in cash, police said.
Martins Omoregie, 24, and Nana Opoku, 22, both of Toronto face drug and other charges. Omoregie is also charged with dangerous driving.
