Two Sarnia residents are facing a raft of charges including drug trafficking after suspects tried to flee police and smashed into two cruisers, Sarnia police say.

The Major Case Action Team stopped a pickup truck near Lanark and Summerset crescents shortly before 10 pm Tuesday to arrest one person for drug offenses, police said in a statement issued Friday afternoon. The truck tried to flee, striking two unmarked police vehicles – one of them head on – and drove across a lawn before it was pinned in and the two occupants were arrested, police said.
“Thankfully no one was injured and the damage to police vehicles was minimal,” police said.
Officers found more than 111 grams of cocaine, almost 300 hydromorphone pills and about half a gram of crystal methamphetamine. The drugs were worth nearly $15,000, police said.
Tyler Male, 28, from Sarnia is charged with possessing cocaine and hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking, prohibited driving and breaching lease, police said.

Jessica Bond, 23, from Sarnia is charged with the same two possession charges, dangerous driving and driving while suspended, police said. They both were released on police undertakings and are due back in court on Sept. 25.
WINDOW SMASHED WITH A ROCK
A Sarnia man has been charged with robbery following an incident downtown Friday where a suspect smashed a business window with a rock, police say.
Police were called to a Christina Street retail store around 6 pm and a suspect was arrested in the area. The suspect went to the store despite being previously trespassed and swore, stole products and ran outside after being asked to leave.
The store owners chased after him to get their stolen property, but the suspect violently resisted and tried to strike them while escaping, police said. He ran to the other side of the street.

“There he picked up rocks from local landscaping and began throwing them at the store owners, shattering their front business door,” police said. “He also made multiple threats to harm them and their business.”
Kail Stokes, 40, from Sarnia is charged with robbery, two counts of assault with a weapon, mischief and breaching bail. He was held for a bail hearing, police said.
TORONTO MAN ARRESTED IN RAINBOW PARK
A Toronto-area man is facing several charges including possessing a prohibited weapon after an incident in Rainbow Park, police say.
Investigators, the emergency response team and canine unit went to the homeless camp in the park for a wanted person around 3:30 pm Thursday, police said Friday. The person, who was known to police, has made violent threats and was in hiding, police said.
An unresponsive man was found and, after being treated by paramedics, gave police a false name. He was arrested and police found a can of mace, a small amount of crystal meth, and more than $400 in counterfeit currency, identical to the type used to defraud a local business on Aug. 14, police said. Officers also found a mask and an airsoft gun.
Chay D’Amato, 23, from York Region, who is wanted there for robbery, is now charged in Sarnia with possessing a prohibited device, possessing counterfeit currency, drug possession, obstructing police and two counts of breaching lease.
