Braeden Fletcher, 24, was featured on the Sarnia police Wanted Wednesday social media campaign last week. Police said he was wanted on charges of fraud worth more than $5,000 and failing to wait court.
He also recently didn’t show up for a trial, which had to be rescheduled.
Police included a photo of Fletcher wearing a gray hoodie and asked anyone who knew where he was to contact them, but they also cautioned not to approach or try to apprehend anyone wanted by police.
There was some confusion on social media later that day that Fletcher was the target as the Sarnia police emergency response team pulled over a vehicle at Russell and Durand streets.
“Buddy is wanted for only fraud and failure to appear so I don’t see full SWAT needed for him,” one person responded to a Facebook post about the police presence in the area at the time.

A Facebook account associated with Fletcher responded to the comment, “Na wasn’t me.” Another person chimed in, saying, “I wouldn’t be gloating they will get ya one day I’m sure.” Fletcher’s account responded, “Yeah they will when I turn myself in tomo.”
It’s unclear if Fletcher turned himself in or was caught by police, but he was brought in handcuffs into a Sarnia courtroom Monday afternoon. Wearing a gray sweatshirt while standing in the prisoner’s box, he was kept in custody and banned from talking to one person, a complainant in one of his cases. All of his charges were adjourned to Wednesday, when he is expected to have a bail hearing.
Fletcher is facing four sets of charges in Sarnia, one each from 2022 and 2023 and two from this year.
