The caller said he was concerned about vandalism to his property nearby, police said.

At 11 pm, the man called police again, concerned about delayed response, police said.

The man told police he would be taking matters into his own hands, police said.

The man armed himself with a “machine-gun-style airsoft gun” and shot pellets in the direction of the encampment, police said.

No one was hit or injured, police said.

The delay in response time was due to call volume, police said.

Police, arriving at 11:15 pm, said the man was agitated and began driving his truck erratically, squealing tires and flashing his lights at police, then abruptly parked, entered his shop and refused to come out.

Police secured the perimeter and maintained communication with the man, until he surrendered at 12:49 am May 10 and was arrested, police said.

Later May 10, a search warrant was executed at the man’s business property and vehicle, and police seized an airsoft gun, police said.

A Sarnia man, 31, is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, criminal harassment, and driving while under suspension, police said. He was released with conditions and a June 11 short date.
