Officers responded to reports of a man with a knife chasing two other men, one of whom had been stabbed, at Indian Road North and Exmouth Street about 7 am Thursday, police said. All three were found on nearby Roger Street.

“One (man) had suffered significant, but non-life-threatening, injuries and was transported to the hospital for further treatment,” police said.

Brandon Tetreault, 26, of Sarnia, was charged with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and two counts of mischief under $5,000, police said.

Wearing a blue T-shirt, Tetreault appeared in Sarnia bail court late Thursday afternoon, where he was kept in custody and ordered not to contact six people, the senior collecting donations at the liquor store and five new complainants or witnesses. He’ll be back in court Tuesday by video from the Sarnia Jail, where both of his cases will be addressed.

Tetreault was first arrested Dec. 17 after the public helped police identify him from LCBO video surveillance photos and charged with aggravated assault, theft under $5,000, and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offense, police said at the time.

He pleaded guilty just over two weeks ago to the lesser included offense of assault, theft under $5,000, and wearing a disguise with intent. His sentencing was adjourned pending a pre-sentence report.

A masked Tetreault went into the Quinn Drive LCBO about noon Dec. 16 and tried to leave with two bottles of vodka worth almost $90, court heard. On his way out, Salvation Army volunteer Greg Robbins, 75, grabbed a bottle and tried to stop him.

During the encounter, Robbins tripped, fell and hit his head on a metal door frame. He was taken to hospital, where 10 staples were needed to close a gash on his head.

“His injuries were significant,” assistant Crown attorney Sarah Carmody said.

Police released surveillance photos of a man wearing a red hood, black face covering and a New York Yankees baseball hat and asked the public’s help identifying him. Someone came forward the next day.

Tetreault was arrested and held in custody for about eight weeks before being released on $1,000 bail Feb. 16.
