Don’t worry if the punch is spiked, this prom is licensed.
Rebound Sarnia-Lambton is hosting Forever Young Prom for people 19 and older starting at 7 pm June 10 at Lambton College’s secondary gymnasium.
“The whole point is to kind of relive that youthful night,” said Maddisyn Fisher, fund development coordinator with the agency.
Her prom wasn’t great, she said.
“I had an OK prom, but I didn’t go with the person I wanted to go with, I didn’t like my makeup,” she said.
That inspired the new fundraiser, she said.
“Just if we all could go back and redo our prom, what would we do differently?”
So far about 100 of the 350 tickets$55, available through reboundonline.com have been purchased, Fisher said.
Money raised goes to Rebound programs that help local youth, she said.
The agency relies on fundraising for a large chunk of its $1.5 million budget, officials have said.
At the event there’ll be a video dance party, photo booth, spotlight dances people can purchase, games, and bar service via Rebound staff, Fisher said.
“All the money you spend at the actual event is actually all going back towards (Rebound),” she said. “All of the bar revenue is actually going to be our fundraising effort.”
Volunteers are still being sought for a prom planning committee to figure out games and details, she said.
The committee meets April 3 and people interested in helping can email Fisher at [email protected], she said.
“We’re just really, really excited,” Fisher said.
“It’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime event, that’s for sure.”
