Joel Bissonnette, A Sarnia Jail Corrections Officer and President of Opeseu Local 128, Said They Wanted to Highlight The Importance of the Mental Health of Their Staff and Other First Responders. The Event featured 12 Teams Made Up of Hospital Staff, OPP Office, Staff Corrections, Court Security and Firefighters.

Bissonnette included in Letter Saying Corrections Officers Have Experienced A significant Increase in Workplace Violence Incidents and Assaults Over the Last 10 Years.

“This level of violence is not ok and would not be acceptable in any other workplace,” The letter Said. “On Top of that, Our Members have to continue working in the same surroundings where they were assaulted.”
