A new general manager of corporate services is set to begin work April 4 at Sarnia City Hall.
Michelle Alton has been hired for the senior management position, recently held by David Logan who left the post on Dec. 20.
She will be responsible for customer service, information technology, finance, human resources, communications, legal services and emergency management.
“I am very excited to be assuming this role and cannot wait to begin supporting the great work that the city is doing,” Alton said in a news release.
She worked for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal for the past eight years and, most recently, was her general counsel. She worked as a labor and employment lawyer prior to that and recently relocated to Sarnia to be closer to family.
“I am confident her forward-thinking direction and strong track record will help us continue to deliver the best possible services for Sarnia residents,” said Chris Carter, the city’s chief administrative officer.
