She won double gold during the Olympics in Paris last summer.
Now Sarah Sjöström is looking for new motivation by trying new sports – among other things by taking help from a former world champion.
“Started the day with double world champion Anna Laurell,” writes Sjöström on Instagram.
If you have been at the absolute top of the world for 17 years, it is clear that you sometimes lose a little motivation. Sarah Sjostrom31, won his first EC gold, 100 meter butterfly, already as a 14-year-old. Since then, record after record has been broken and the medal cabinet has had to be expanded to accommodate all the EC, WC and Olympic medals.
Married Johan
After the summer’s success in Paris – where she won Olympic gold in both the 50 meter freestyle and 100 meter freestyle – most of Sarah’s life has been about her and Johan de Jong Skierus wedding that took place in Italian Tuscany on September 28.
– It was truly magical. It turned out so much better than we could have imagined. Just a three-day wedding with pre-party, wedding and after-party was absolutely incredible. I wasn’t nervous at all. I didn’t feel like there was much that could go wrong. We had such an incredible team around us, Sarah Sjöström told Expressen at the beginning of October.

In fact, the couple had already practiced getting married once, as an official marriage certificate was required for them to marry abroad. So the papers were signed in Sweden some time before the big party trip to Tuscany.
– The media say that we have been married before. But we have not married before. We got married on September 28th. Before that, it was formal. My ring says September 28th. I have not called my husband my husband until then. It has been nothing but legal. The unromantic thing happened before. We signed the papers in the parking lot and then it was nothing more than “yes, yes, now we’re going home,” she says.

Trying new sports
But the world star has probably been able to squeeze in some training between the laps as well. Previously, Sportbibeln wrote about her climbing adventure in the bouldering hall. She has broadened her horizons when it comes to finding new forms of exercise that can actually help her become a better swimmer. Climbing has been an activity that she has also been involved in before.
– I do it just for fun. It is very similar to the muscles that we need to use when we swim. I think it has helped me in the water when I was climbing, she said in a Youtube clip with Betsson back in 2017.
Now Sjöström has broadened her range even further, as she challenged herself by trying another sport. She and a friend visited the IF Linnéa Boxing boxing club on Södermalm in Stockholm on Wednesday. Once there, they received a PT session with themselves Anna Laurell Nashtwo-time world champion and three-time European boxing champion.
“Me and Linnéa Lindberg started the day with double world champion Anna Laurell,” writes Sarah Sjöström on Instagram and shows in a video clip what the training session looked like.
Great job Sarah! It looks tough, but if anyone can do it, it’s you. Good luck with your future training.
