Sarah Sjöström is one of Sweden’s most successful athletes.
But things don’t just happen in the pool.
Now the Sims woman reveals details about the house purchase and the wedding plans together with the boyfriend.
2022 has been a successful year for the swimmer Sarah Sjostrom. The 29-year-old first swam home two WC golds before she also took home an individual EC gold and a gold in the team race.
The couple’s house purchase
In August next year, Sarah Sjöström turns 30, and you can safely say that she has been in the industry for a while. For more than half of her life, she has been an elite athlete at the absolute highest level.
– I took a short break – that time it was a real break – after the 2016 Olympics, but otherwise I’ve basically been running since 2007. That’s 15 years straight, which says a lot, she tells Dagens Nyheter.

Sjöström’s arrangement during the autumn has meant that she has been able to free up a lot of time. Time that, instead of swimming, has been devoted to the renovation of the recently bought house on Lidingö. A house she bought together with her fiance Johan de Jong Skierus.
– This renovation project feels like a full-time job, and owning a house costs more than you think. Our first budget blew right away, we just had to double it. The question is whether it doesn’t end with the triple, says Sarah Sjöström.
– In addition, it is physically tiring to renovate. I’d even say it’s ten times harder than going to the gym. Some days it has felt like I lifted 20 tons.

“Not free”
During the year, the couple, in addition to buying a house, also got engaged. But there doesn’t seem to be any wedding in the near future.
– A wedding is not exactly free, and right now most of our money is spent on the house. My parents didn’t get married until 2010, which was like 16 years after they got engaged, so there’s no need to stress, says Sjöström.
