Now Sjöström is aiming for his sixth consecutive Olympics and to catch up with the blue and yellow legend Therese Alshammar. Now she reveals her plan to be able to swim at the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in four years.
– The investment will certainly look a little different. It has been very intense with a lot of competitions. So I probably won’t compete as much as I did, she says in an interview with Expressen.
– I will take it easy because I want to swim at the Olympics in LA. And to be able to swim in the Olympics in LA, I need to take care of my body a little. And be sure to build it up slowly. Not all the time just continue with hard training. So I have to take it easy.
Sarah fights back
Alshammar, who swam in six straight Olympics, is fully confident that Sarah will add to her impressive Olympic streak.
– Even though she says she will take it easy, I think she will train quite regularly and more than most others. But don’t compete as much and don’t have as intense a schedule, which is what’s tiring, Therese tells the evening newspaper.
– She has an enormous capacity. If she wants to swim in LA, I think it’s entirely possible. It depends on how the development goes in the rest of the field. And it always goes like this (up and down). If you time it right, it can be very lucky, says Alshammar.

Sarah Sjöström will be 35 years old at the next summer Olympics. However, she gets annoyed and hits back at the question of whether she will still have the hunger to compete at the very highest level in swimming.
– I have never understood what people mean by hunger? I enjoy my everyday life. Just like many others who go to work. Some days it is harder to go to work. But I enjoy my everyday life as an elite athlete, says Sjöström in the interview.
– It’s not necessarily driven, some particular medal or performance I’m after. I’m rolling and it feels good. I feel good when I’m in good shape and can swim fast. It feels good in the body to be able to do it. I am not setting any particular medal or record goal.
