Sara Kuivisto’s spring went completely wrong because of the “little bug” and now there is a new setback – last summer’s SE factory is hardly repeated: “You have to be realistic”

As a run it was bad terribly restless

Sara Kuivisto does not yet know when she will be able to start the summer season of the two championships. This week, Kuivisto got dermatitis on his feet.

Intermediate runner Sara Kuivisto became one of the biggest successes of the Finnish Olympic team in Tokyo last summer, when he ran a new Finnish record in each of his starts. At both 800 meters and 1,500 meters, the Porvoo runner advanced to the semifinals, and the final places were not caught up in the new SE times.

This spring, however, Kuivisto has faced the worst setbacks of his career. The illness that began in the World Cup halls in Belgrade ruined the entire spring training period. Finally, after more than a month of uncertainty, intestinal pain called Dientamoeba fragilis became the cause of the weakness and abdominal pain.

A similar two-way SE cannon will hardly be seen this season, Kuivisto estimates before the first race of the summer.

– For 800, I’m sure I’ll be in really good shape, I have no doubt about that. But unfortunately you have to be realistic. It may be that I will not see any records per tonne tonne, Kuivisto says.

Kuivisto has not been able to do any intense training at all for almost two months, and running volumes have been far from normal.

– Tonnivitonen only requires so many kilometers and large hours of training. For Kasi, when you do strenuous power exercises, my fitness is enough. Tonnivitonen requires pure iron condition, Kuivisto says.

The dermatitis forced me to run barefoot

Kuivisto says his condition has improved dramatically in recent weeks. Next week, it will be clear whether the parasite has been expelled from the body.

Kuivisto faced the latest setback this week. He got dermatitis in his legs, apparently due to medication.

– I can’t keep my shoes because of it. Fortunately, I already got help and treatment for it, and it is getting better. I think in a couple of days I’ll be able to run the shoes on my feet, and not just barefoot. Yes, this has been tried, Kuivisto sighs.

Before becoming ill, Kuivisto had time to improve the Finnish records for indoor tracks on both trips.

– This feels so pointless. The little bug enters the stomach and shuffles the whole pack. What was most annoying was that I was in such great condition in the winter. It would have been a dream to continue training after the World Cup halls. It went wrong, Kuivisto regrets.

Kuivisto has already been named to the Finnish team for both the 800 and 1,500 meters at the World Championships starting in Eugene, USA in mid-July.

Kuivisto would have good seams to succeed at the European Championships in Munich in August: he was seventh in European statistics last season with a record high of 4.02.35 tonnes and a ninth record of 1.59.41. According to Kuivisto, the timetable would allow participation in only one trip.

Kuivisto admits that the first value races in Oregon, especially in the summer, will be met fairly quickly. At least the plans for early summer went completely new.

– I can’t say because I’m starting the season, but it’s definitely moving. I’m not going to compete halfway through. I have to practice well so I have my own tough self before I compete. However, I do not rule out the possibility that I could compete in the World Cup. I can’t say what this summer will look like, but we shouldn’t get too caught up in it, Kuivisto says with determination.

Kuivisto, who has won ten gold medals at the Kaleva Games, has dominated the domestic middle distance run for several years and made history the best Finnish woman of its kind ever.

He believes that the difficulties of one spring do not mean in the big picture, even though the loss of a good mood has done evil.

– It helps that I’m not a jerk. I have an idea of this job that I know a couple of months of my career won’t pour anything. This is a difficult moment now, but yes, we will still get up and come back stronger, says Kuivisto, 30.
