Sara Hector’s great success in Austria – takes the season’s first podium at the World Cup

Sara Hector has secured the first podium of the season. She finished third in the Alpine World Cup competition in Lienz, Austria.

The Swede was second after the first giant slalom race, 63 hundredths behind the leader American Mikaela Shiffrinwho also took home the victory.

The race began with strange scenes where the rider crashed and had to be led off with his arm in a sling, which meant that the start had to be postponed.

Also first rider, the Italian Marta Bassinodrove out. Federica Brignone (Italy) was third.

31-year-olds Sarah Hector had started the season with four fourth places, three in the parade branch giant slalom and one in slalom, as the best result. Last year Hector finished third in Lienz.
